With the energy Nigeria filmmakers are channelling into movie making, you’re often spoilt for the choice of film to see the next time you’re going to the theatres or swiping through your favourite streaming platform.
No doubt, the Nigerian film industry is brimming with loads of output. This is unsurprising as Nollywood has maintained the record for being the second-highest producer of films on the globe.

For this weekend’s TFC Lists, here are five Nollywood movies you should not miss.
1. Prophetess
Prophetess is a 2021 Nigerian sports comedy film directed by Niyi Akinmolayan. It stars Toyin Abraham, Kehinde Bankole, Uzor Arukwe, Stan Nze and Tina Mba in the lead roles.
The movie is based on a local prophetess who makes bold bogus predictions about the outcome of a local club football match which goes beyond her control.
The film had its theatrical release on 2 April 2021 and is currently streaming on Netflix.

2. Nimbe
A bullied teenager welcomes the acceptance he finds when he joins a gang, but soon becomes involved in the dangerous world of drug abuse and organised crime.

Nimbe is a 2019 Nigerian drama film directed by Tope Alake. It stars Chimezie Imo, Toyin Abraham, Rachael Okonkwo and Doyin Abiola in the lead roles and is currently showing on Netflix.
3. Small Chops
Directed by Robert O. Peters and produced by actress Chika Ike, Small Chops is a 2020 Nigerian drama about a business mogul who hires an exotic dancer for a weekend of entertainment that quickly morphs into a messy situation full of misunderstanding.

4. The Bridge
The Bridge is a 2017 Nigerian film written by Shola Dada, produced and directed by Kunle Afolayan.
A Yoruba prince and a young lady from a prominent Igbo family face tribal prejudice and parental pressure when they secretly wed.
The movie stars Chidinma Ekile, Demola Adedoyin, Tina Mba, Ayo Mogaji, Zack Orji, Bayo Salami, and is streaming on Netflix.

5. Up North
Love, friendship, and family politics collide when a rebellious young heir is sent to national service in northern Nigeria before he can inherit his father’s assets.
Up North is a 2018 Nigerian drama film produced by Anakle Films and Inkblot Productions and directed by Tope Oshin. It was written by Naz Onuzo and Bunmi Ajakaiye, based on a story from Editi Effiong.
Up North is currently showing on Netflix.
