For this weekend’s TFC Lists, here are five Nollywood astonishing movies on hope and Survival you ought to see this end of the week.
1. Dazzling Mirage
The 2014 one-hour, thirty minutes drama is a Tunde Kelani film about a talented, beautiful young sickle-cell sufferer who overcomes social stigma, prejudice and her own low self-esteem, to achieve career success, marriage and motherhood.
Written by Ade Solanke, the movie stars Kemi Lala Akindoju, Seun Akindele, Kunle Afolayan, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Bimbo Manuel and others.
Dazzling Mirage is currently streaming on Netflix.

2. Gone
Gone is a Daniel Ademinokan’s direction with Adeniji Adeniyi, Obi Emelonye, Joy Odiete and Daniel Ademinokan sharing screenplay credit is a 2021 movie about Animashahun, who leaves his wife, a 2-year-old daughter and an unborn son back in Nigeria in search for a better life in New York City, he suddenly vanishes without a trace.

25 years later, he returns to reclaim his wife and family but nothing is the same as everyone thought he was dead, and his family is in the hands of another man. But Ani is determined to get his family back, no matter what it takes.
The Two hours, ten minutes movie is also streaming on Netflix.
3. Strain
After his son is diagnosed with sickle cell disease, a man and his family struggle to face a new reality as they rediscover their shared love.

Directed by Uduak-Obong Patrick, released in September 2020 and still showing on Netflix, Strain stars Okey Uzoeshi, Angel Unigwe, Nifemi Lawal, Alex Esifo, Aproko Doctor, amongst others.
4. Diamonds in the Sky
Directed by Kunle Afolayan and produced by Femi Adebayo, ‘Diamond in the Sky’ follows the story of Three families navigating uncertainty and struggle when cancer affects their lives and presents emotional challenges that test their bonds.
Starring Veteran actor Joke Silva, Femi Adebayo, Omowunmi Dada, Ayo Mogaji and others, the movie is written by Tunde Babalola and is available on Netflix.

5. ‘76
’76, formerly Lions of ’76, is a 2016 Nigerian historical fiction drama film directed by Izu Ojukwu and produced by Adonaijah Owiriwa and Izu Ojukwu. It stars Ramsey Nouah, Chidi Mokeme, Rita Dominic, and Ibinabo Fiberesima.
Written by Emmanuel Okomanyi with Yinka Edwards having cinematography credit, The story is told from two points of view: that of a young pregnant woman, and that of her husband, a soldier accused of being involved in the failed 1976 military coup and assassination of General Murtala Mohammed, the Head-of-State of Nigeria.
After a theatrical release, ‘76 is now available on Netflix.
