VSL Media production company film ‘Passport’ grossed approximately N19.35m at the box office in the first weekend of its release in Nigeria and Ghana, according to data released by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN).

In the same vein, ‘Password’ became the third Nollywood film to hit number one on its opening weekend in 2022 and the biggest opening weekend for a comedy in 2022.
Reacting to the groundbreaking records, the producer of the comedy feature, Vincent Okonkwo appreciated Nigerians and Ghanaians for embracing the film.
“Thank you Nigeria & Ghana for making #PassportMovie the No.1 Movie at the box office within 3 days. For those who haven’t seen our film yet, make sure you plan to see it at a cinema near you this weekend!”
The film, directed by Dimeji Ajibola, tells the narrative of Oscar and Funke, two persons on different ends of the loneliness spectrum who are both looking for some excitement in their lives. To recover his stolen passport, Oscar needs help from a tomboy who lives in the ghetto. He must work with her or miss a flight to a job interview that could change his life.
‘Passport’ features Nollywood stars Mercy Johnson-Okojie, Jim Iyke, Zubby Micheal, Adedimeji Lateef, Jide Kosoko, Emem Ufot, NASBOI among others and will centre on two main characters (Oscar and Funke) as they find themselves intertwined while trying to navigate a new life together.

After the movie started streaming on September 2, TFC’s editor, earlier reviewed the movie and described it as “Prim vs Ghetto Served as Old Wine, in Old Bottle yet Thrilling Taste.”
