In this edition of TFC Lists, we present to you five comedy-dramas to assist you with facilitating that stress.
1. Gold StatueA Tade Ogidan direction, starring Gabriel Afolayan, Kunle Remi, Richard Mofe Damijo and others, Gold Statue follows the story of Two young men, Wale and Chike who are in search of a ‘Gold Statue’ believed to have been a deity inherited by their generation. In trying to locate where the supposed statue is located, they go through a series of unimaginable ordeals.
The 2019 film is currently showing on Netflix.
2. Sugar RushAlso a 2019 film, Sugar Rush tells the story of Tracey who is aware that her husband is cheating but carried on as normal until she found a way to hurt him. However, she discovers that she might not get away with her crime.
Having made N287 million at the box office, the movie starred Adesua Etomi; Bisola Aiyeola; Bimbo Ademoye and was directed by Kayode Kasum. It’s currently streaming on Netflix.
3. Osofia in LondonWritten and directed by Kingsley Ogoro, Osofia in London is a 2003 movie about a villager in Nigeria who becomes the sole beneficiary of his late brother’s estate in England, which, according to customs, includes his brother’s fiancée.
Osofia in London, with a sequel Osofia in London 2, is showing on Netflix and the film starred veteran actor Nkem Owoh; Mara Derwent, Francis Odega, Cynthia Okereke, Tom Njemanze amongst others.
4. Gbomo Gbomo ExpressThe night spins out of control when incompetent kidnappers hold a club-hopping record executive and a socialite to ransom.
Gbomo Gbomo Express is a 2015 film written and directed by Walter Taylaur. It stars the recent AMVCA actress of the year winner – Osas Ighodaro, Ramsey Nouah, Blossom Chukwujekwu and other amazing actors. Gbomo Gbomo Express is showing on Netflix.
5. One Lagos NightOne Lagos Night is a comedy-drama that follows the story of a desperate man that attempts to burglarize the home of a wealthy woman but finds himself face to face with a crew of armed robbers who has the same idea.
Directed by Ekeke Som Mekwunye, the 2021 movie is currently showing on Netflix.
